Canadian Institutes of Health Reseach (CIHR) The Canadian Institutes of Health Research's (CIHR) mandate is to catalyze and facilitate profound, transformative changes in order to position Canada and the Canadian health research community at the forefront of health research. CIHR is organized into 13 Institutes that bring together researchers from all areas of health research –-- biomedical and clinical researchers, social scientists and scholars in the humanities, physical scientists, engineers, and mathematicians, to name just a few-- for obtaining a more comprehensive understanding of the exciting scientific opportunities and health issues that face Canada. Typically approximately 4% of Tri-Agency funding that is brought into the Faculty of Education is from CIHR (Source: Faculty of Education External Review, 2005). The CIHR website offers potential applicants a complete list of CIHR research funding on the Current Funding Opportunities web page (organized by program name, type or scholarly research area). | ![]() |
