2009 Faculty of Education HSS Research Grant

Funding for the Faculty of Education HSS Research Grant is made available through the annual SSHRC Institutional Grant, and is specifically designed to promote research in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The two main goals of the Faculty of Education HSS Research Grant, are 1) to stimulate research that will act as a 'bridge' to other larger, longer term, and more stable external grants 2) to provide funding for small projects not large enough to warrant applications for Tri-Council funding.

This grant initiative is particularly well suited to the needs of newer scholars who have yet to receive large, external funding awards, and/or who may wish to pursue small projects in order to build their research track records. Thus, applications from more junior scholars are particularly encouraged and will be given preference in the adjudication process. However, the grant is also open to more senior scholars whose research proposal fits one or both of the two main program goals.

However, Faculty who hold Tri-Council of other major funding at the time of the award are not eligible to apply to this initiative. The grant is also not designed to complete of supplement Tri-Council or other funded projects

Note that the Faculty of Education HSS Research Development Grant is also designed to support research training opportunities for graduate students. Applications that make a provision for such training will be given higher priority.
