Faculty of Education Graduate Student Conference Travel Grant

NOTE: Students must be actively registered and continuing in an Education degree program at time of reimbursement. Students who have applied for graduation are not eligible.

Deadline (*NEW*):
Applications are accepted any time but are only processed once a month on the last day of the month.

Purpose
The goal of this initiative is to provide financial support to graduate students who must travel to present their work at conferences, helping them build and enhance their scholarly profiles.

Value
Students may apply to the grant more than once, so long as they do not exceed a total of $750 (per degree), for costs incurred in presenting a first-authored paper/poster session/workshop at a local, national or international conference:

Local conferences (Lower Mainland): $150 (maximum)
Provincial conferences (within B.C.): $400 (maximum)
National/International conferences: $750 (maximum)

This is a reimbursement initiative where students must first incur expenses and then submit receipts for reimbursement.

Please do not submit receipts with travel grant application! The OGPR is not responsible for receipts misplaced in the application process.

Application Steps:

1. Download application form below and fill out the information.
2. Submit application, along with supporting documents, to the OGPR.
3. OGPR processes the application and emails students an approval letter.
4. Students bring original receipts to the Education Accounting Office in Scarfe 2608.
5. Students fill out reimbursement form at the Accounting Office.
6. Accounting Office will process the reimbursement form and students will receive funds in 2-3 weeks.

Academic Unit (Department) Travel Grants

Graduate students in the Faculty of Education may also wish to inquire within their own academic unit about department-funded travel grants.

 

UBC Faculty of Graduate Studies: Graduate Student Travel Fund

In addition to applying for conference travel grants offered through the Faculty of Education, graduate students may also apply to the Faculty of Graduate Studies' Graduate Student Travel Fund.
