Need-Based Funding at UBC : Types & Sources Need-based funding, which includes grants, government loans and bursaries, is awarded based on the assessed financial need of the student. Need-based funding for both undergraduate and graduate students is administered by UBC’s Student Financial Assistance and Awards (SFA&A) office. UBC, through the support of its many donors and through funding provided by the provincial and federal governments, offers a wide range of programs to provide financial assistance to students who cannot meet basic educational costs. More detailed information about needs-based graduate awards such as loans, bursaries and other types of financial aid is available from the Student Financial Assistance and Awards office. | ![]() |
